[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam County announced on the 15th that it signed a business agreement with the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation at the county office situation room to introduce an integrated management system and card/mobile type for the Haenam Love Gift Certificate.

At the signing ceremony attended by Myung Hyun-gwan, Haenam County Governor, and Cho Yong-man, President of the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, it was decided to build an integrated management system to efficiently manage the gift certificates and to promote the introduction of electronic (card/mobile) Haenam Love Gift Certificates.

To this end, they agreed to closely cooperate on service improvements to enhance reliability and security, strengthen cooperation on new technologies and publicity, and related procedures for the convenience of Haenam residents and local small businesses.

The card and mobile gift certificates will be introduced starting next year, and the integrated management system is planned to be established within this year to support this.

The card and mobile gift certificates will allow users to issue cards, recharge, and check usage history and balance remotely through a smartphone app (APP) without visiting sales agencies, greatly enhancing user convenience.

Additionally, compared to the existing paper type, issuance costs and sales/exchange fees can be reduced, and payment and receipt procedures will be simplified for various policy issuances such as farmers' allowances.

Since the launch of the Haenam Love Gift Certificate in April last year, cumulative sales have exceeded 117 billion KRW, actively circulating to the extent that it recorded the highest sales amount in Jeonnam Province for two consecutive years.

With the introduction of card and mobile gift certificates enabling the most commonly used card payments, it is expected that the number of users will increase by attracting younger generations who have a low preference for paper gift certificates.

Governor Myung Hyun-gwan said, “As the Haenam Love Gift Certificate has been actively circulated, it has played a significant role in preventing the outflow of local funds and alleviating the economic downturn caused by COVID-19,” adding, “We will do our best to improve the issuance and distribution environment of the Haenam Love Gift Certificate to serve as a savior for revitalizing our county’s local economy.”
