Dongseo University Department of Video Animation and Game Studies, Globalization Event for Digital Content Education

An event to experience the overseas content industry through an international network in the digital content field, aiming for a resurgence of the Department of Visual Animation and Game Studies, will be held at Dongseo University.
Dongseo University will hold the event titled “Digitact! The Future of Innovative Education in Animation, Game, and VFX - Industry-Academia Education Utilizing IFS (In school Field System)” on the 16th at Sohyang Art Hall on the 2nd floor of the New Millennium Building at Dongseo University.
Experts analyze that the current changes in the content industry follow changes in the content consumption ecosystem.
The mobile consumption ecosystem has already grown beyond the existing forms of content consumption, and changes in the industry to handle the rapidly increasing volume of content consumption are imminent.
This event declares a resurgence of the Departments of Visual Animation and Game Studies as future education centered on education and experiential value adapts to these changes.
This event for the globalization and specialization of digital content education invites globally renowned experts to open an international exchange platform for the departments, providing students with opportunities to form international human networks and experience the overseas content industry, organized by Dongseo University.
The event is hosted by the Departments of Visual Animation and Game Studies at Dongseo University, and sponsored by the Dongseo University Software-Centered University Project Group and LINC+ Project Group.
The event is divided into a morning conference section and an afternoon presentation section (SuperWeeks7).
It is also an international event conducted in real-time remotely, utilizing advanced technology necessary for online events.
At the morning conference, Professor Steve Brown, who has served as a professor in the Character Animation major at CalArts (California Institute of the Arts), the world’s top university in animation, for 20 years, will deliver the keynote speech.
The keynote speech, titled “From Adversity to Opportunity, Educational Design in a Time of Effort,” will focus on global innovative education in the animation field.
CalArts was founded by Walt Disney, a mythical figure in the history of American animation.
Many graduates from CalArts’ animation programs have advanced to the world’s top animation companies such as Disney, Pixar, and DreamWorks. The university has also produced numerous animation educators active in academia both domestically and internationally.
Jenny Ryu, Executive Director of the global game company NCSoft, will give a lecture on the game development production process in the North American region.
This is a great opportunity for the Department of Game Studies to learn about the latest industry trends in practical game production. Professor Sofronis Efstathiou from Bournemouth University in the UK will give a lecture on the future of animation, VFX, and game education in the UK.
In the afternoon presentation, there will be presentations of animation and VFX content works created through seven weeks of online future innovative education, as well as the announcement of results from the Dongseo Art & Indie Game Contest.
Four animation and VFX video works will be presented, showcasing the possibilities of new video creation through advanced technology.
Various game works selected through the Dongseo Art & Indie Game Contest will also be showcased.
Professor Kim Ki-hong of the Department of Digital Contents, who is in charge of overall event management, said, “It was a meaningful seven weeks of preparation spent closely with students during the summer vacation. Through this event, we will establish a foundation for a resurgence into future content and future education, enabling students to achieve the joy and thrill of content creation through future education.”
