[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Among the total 2,275 admissions at Sungshin Women's University, the early admission rate is 64.4%. In the early admission process, the largest number of students, 1,161, are selected through the student record-based screening. While maintaining the School Life Excellence Screening, Self-Directed Talent Screening, and Equal Opportunity Screening as they are, the 'Opportunity Balance Selection Screening,' which was previously conducted in the regular admission, will be changed to a comprehensive student record screening.
Starting this year, the School Life Excellence Screening, Equal Opportunity Screening, and Opportunity Balance Selection Screening will be selected uniformly with 100% document evaluation. The Self-Directed Talent Screening will proceed with a multi-stage evaluation as in previous years. In the first stage, 3 times the number of candidates are selected based on 100% document evaluation, and in the second stage, the final selection is made with a ratio of 60% first-stage document score and 40% interview score.
The student record-based screening will change from the Academic Excellence Screening to a minimum CSAT score requirement. Applicants for this screening must have a combined score of two subjects among Korean, English, Mathematics (Type A or B), and the highest one subject in the inquiry category within grade 6 (within grade 5 if including English) for humanities departments, and within grade 7 (within grade 6 if including English) for natural science departments. This is somewhat relaxed compared to last year’s requirement, which reflected the sum of three subjects.
There are no significant changes in the essay screening compared to last year, but the minimum CSAT score requirement is applied the same as the Academic Excellence Screening. The essay test will be held on October 10 for natural science applicants and on the following day, October 11, for humanities applicants. Both Donam Sujeong Campus and Mia Unjeong Green Campus will be used as essay test sites. For early admission practical exams, both campuses of the university will also be utilized.
For interviews, essays, and practical exams conducted by the university itself in the comprehensive student record screening, safety is paramount, and both the university and examinees must make efforts. The schedule and related information for each screening test conducted by the university must be checked not only in the admission guidelines but also through the university’s admission website announcements. Additionally, for arts and physical education departments taking practical exams, many departments have changed the weighting of the practical exam scores, so examinees are advised to check these details carefully through the admission guidelines for each recruitment period.
