Samsung SDS "Supporting the Entire Process of Customer Digital Transformation" Hong Won-pyo, CEO of Samsung SDS

[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Samsung SDS is focusing on supporting all processes of digital transformation (DT) based on top-level digital technologies and diverse industry-specific experiences.

Samsung SDS held the 'REAL 2020' event online on the 9th and 10th to share on-site DT application cases and technological capabilities. Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the event was conducted online and attracted great interest in DT, with about 10,000 registrants and a maximum of approximately 3,800 simultaneous connections over two days. Compared to last year's event, which had about 1,500 attendees, this is a significant increase in just one year.

On the first day (the 9th), CEO Hong Won-pyo introduced the cloud business based on 17 data centers worldwide and the largest and highest-level security monitoring services in Korea from the Seoul Sangam Data Center. CEO Hong said, "Samsung SDS actively supports the entire DT process of customers based on top-level digital technologies, IT infrastructure, global monitoring services, and diverse industry-specific experiences." He explained, "We handle cargo volumes ranked in the top 10 worldwide, securing visibility from production factories to end customers," and added, "By integrating digital technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT), we thoroughly manage the history of product distribution processes and handle risks in real time."

At this event, Samsung SDS introduced an advanced method from last year's DT concept to support the entire process from diagnosing customers' digital levels to strategy establishment and execution. Additionally, Samsung SDS executives and experts presented cases of management system innovation such as next-generation ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and SCM (Supply Chain Management) under the theme of 'Corporate Management Innovation Based on Digital Technology.'

On the 10th, industry-specific digital transformation cases utilizing AI, security, cloud, and blockchain technologies were introduced. Actual cases included banking work efficiency improvement using deep learning-based image recognition technology, digital innovation in the financial sector through Samsung SDS hybrid cloud, and advanced security monitoring incorporating automation technology.
