-Retail Industry Introduces Products That Allow You to Love and Care for Your Body as It Is
The Y-zone, despite being an important organ located at the center of the body, has often been neglected due to social taboos and feelings of embarrassment. However, as the trend of recognizing and focusing on the ‘authentic self’ rather than others’ gaze grows, and the desire to manage ‘one’s own body’ healthily rises, it is becoming established as a culture. In particular, recently, brands running campaigns that help women’s health by encouraging women to take an interest in their own bodies and develop habits of meticulous care are receiving great attention.
- Why did a global pharmaceutical company create a mirror?
Gyno-Betacare® (GYNO-BETACARE®), a feminine cleanser from Mundipharma Korea, is gaining positive responses from women through its ‘Find Me, I love Me’ campaign, which raises awareness of the importance of Y-zone care for women. Mundipharma, which has been dedicated to women’s health for over 60 years, planned this campaign to help women take an interest in their own bodies and develop habits of meticulous care to support women’s health.
To commemorate this campaign, Gyno-Betacare® (GYNO-BETACARE®) launched the ‘Gyno-Betacare Lee Yeon Edition’ in collaboration with drawing artist Lee Yeon. The ‘Gyno-Betacare Lee Yeon Edition’ is composed of feminine cleanser along with special items that allow more detailed daily care of the Y-zone.
The set includes a mirror that allows women to directly see their vulva, a pH tester that intuitively checks the health status of the Y-zone, and an origami guidebook to help women become more familiar with the Y-zone structure and reflect on how to love themselves.
Gyno-Betacare® (GYNO-BETACARE®) Feminine Wash, a mild feminine cleanser suitable for children aged 4 and above, contains prebiotics and lactic acid and is a mildly acidic feminine cleanser that enables daily Y-zone care. It is notable for its ability to remove odors, protect skin, and soothe all at once, and its pH is similar to the natural pH of sensitive female areas, helping to maintain the natural pH balance of sensitive female parts.
Meanwhile, the limited edition packaging of Gyno-Betacare® (GYNO-BETACARE®) is available exclusively at the Gyno-Betacare Smart Store and online shops, with a retail price of 35,000 KRW.
- Women wear comfortable underwear ‘square panties’ for their bodies
Although triangle panties have long been considered a must despite tightly squeezing women’s Y-zone, recently, more female consumers prioritize comfort when purchasing underwear, reflecting their desire for comfort in the underwear market, where products catering to this demand are gaining popularity.
Shinsegae International’s lifestyle brand Jaju launched two types of women’s drawers called ‘boy shorts’ and trunks in January this year. Drawers, a form-fitting square panty, do not put pressure on the Y-zone, and trunks are hygienic due to good ventilation. Jaju’s boy shorts apply the modal fabric and seamless fusing technique, which received positive reviews in men’s drawers, but are designed to allow detachable wing-type sanitary pads. The soft material and excellent elasticity wrap the lower abdomen and hips, providing comfortable wear.
- Feminine cleansers only for women? Male-only cleansers
To manage one’s body comfortably and healthily, cleanliness should be valued regardless of gender. Some brands have started developing male cleansers, focusing on consumer curiosity about ‘why the usage rate of male cleansers is low’ and survey results showing that ‘the body part men are most concerned about when showering is the Y-zone.’
Amorepacific’s ‘BRO&TIPS’ launched the male-only cleanser ‘Point Clinic.’ Due to the body structure, the Y-zone, where skin friction inevitably occurs and ventilation is difficult, tends to accumulate sweat and moisture, making it easy for bacteria to breed. Point Clinic is a male cleanser that cleans the Y-zone, including the groin, once more at the final stage of showering, removing 99% of harmful bacteria and containing menthol to help lower the temperature of the Y-zone, where temperature control is important.
