[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Kakao IX announced on the 8th that Kakao Friends is collaborating for the first time with emerging artist Ok Seung-cheol to present limited edition figures and special edition goods.
Kakao Friends explained that, moving beyond releasing products mainly focused on emoticons and goods, they have started the challenge of collaborating with visual artists to provide consumers with a unique experience.
In this collaboration, they will showcase works including Ok's recent representative piece "Spike" and reinterpretations of the Kakao Friends character "Apeach," known for having the most diverse expressions, with the artist's unique perspective.
The limited edition figures are art figure works using the Apeach character and Ok's original character, each released in a limited edition of 500 units. They include the artist's signature and edition number, enhancing their collectible value and expected to hold special meaning for collectors.
For the special edition goods, Ok was directly involved from item selection and production process to package design. "Ceramic Incense Burners" featuring the Apeach character and Ok's character will be released with 1,000 units each, and two types of "Plastic Mood Lamps" using Ok's character will also be sold in limited quantities.
The limited edition figures and special edition goods will be sequentially launched on Kakao Makers starting from the 14th.
