[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Samsung Card announced on the 3rd that it will newly launch three types of digital-specialized products called 'taptap' with reasonable annual fees.
The taptap cards basically include benefits related to contactless consumption and overseas payments, and each product offers specialized benefits by industry.
First, 'taptap DIGITAL' focuses on benefits related to contactless consumption such as online simple payments and streaming services. It offers a 5% discount when paying at domestic online merchants through Samsung Pay, Naver Pay, Kakao Pay, PAYCO, Smile Pay, etc., and provides a payment day discount of up to KRW 20,000 depending on the previous month's usage amount.
It also offers a 50% discount on streaming subscription payments for services such as Netflix, Wavve, Watcha, Melon, and FLO. Depending on the previous month's usage amount, a payment day discount of up to KRW 10,000 can be received. Additionally, it provides a 10% payment day discount benefit for convenience stores, health & beauty, and daily necessities.
'taptap DRIVE' features increasing gas station payment benefits according to the number of automatic payments for utility bills. Depending on the previous month's usage amount and the number of automatic utility bill payments, it offers a payment day discount of up to KRW 150 per liter at all gas stations.
'taptap SHOPPING' provides specialized shopping benefits covering both online and offline. It offers a 5% payment day discount at online discount stores such as Emart Mall, online shopping malls, internet duty-free shops, home shopping, and Market Kurly, as well as a 5% discount at offline discount stores, department stores, premium outlets, duty-free shops, supermarkets, etc. Depending on the previous month's usage amount and the number of automatic utility bill payments, discounts of up to KRW 20,000 can be received for both online and offline shopping.
In addition, a KRW 3,000 payment day discount benefit is provided once a month when streaming subscription payments exceed KRW 6,000.
All three 'taptap' cards offer a 1.5% discount benefit for overseas merchants and direct overseas purchases regardless of the previous month's usage amount. A maximum payment day discount of KRW 500,000 can be received. The annual fee for all is KRW 10,000.
Samsung Card also renewed and launched the 'American Express Blue'. It provides a 7% point accumulation benefit for convenience store and delivery app payments, and a 5% point accumulation benefit for transportation and communication industry payments. Depending on the previous month's usage amount, up to 15,000 points can be accumulated for each.
