Apply and Issue with Samsung Pay... 'Samsung Pay Card' Launches on the 31st

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Samsung Electronics, in collaboration with Samsung Card, will launch the Samsung Pay specialized card 'Samsung Pay Card' domestically on the 31st.

The Samsung Pay Card can only be applied for through the Samsung Pay app and will also be issued as a physical card. Discount details, performance fulfillment status, card number, and overseas payment blocking functions, which were previously only available in the Samsung Card app, can now be checked directly in the Samsung Pay app.

Registering and paying with Samsung Pay offers discount benefits. At domestic offline merchants, a 1% payment day discount is provided, and at online merchants, a 1.5% payment day discount benefit is offered.

Until the end of the year, paying with Samsung Pay at domestic online merchants provides an additional 0.5% discount benefit, totaling a 2% discount. An event is underway offering a 3% discount when paying at the Samsung Pay Coupon Shop and a 2% discount when using Cashbee postpaid transportation. If the previous month's domestic usage amount is 300,000 KRW or more, discount benefits up to 300,000 KRW can be received.

Samsung Electronics, in cooperation with Samsung Card and Mastercard, will also start overseas payment services. Cards that can be used overseas, such as the 'Samsung Pay Card,' can be registered in Samsung Pay and used at overseas offline merchants with NFC terminals. When paying overseas with Samsung Pay using the Samsung Pay Card, a 5% discount benefit is provided within a monthly limit of 100,000 KRW.

Samsung Pay, which started service domestically in August 2015, has surpassed approximately 19 million subscribers as of August, with cumulative payment amounts reaching 80 trillion KRW.
