Yeosu Coast Guard Reduces Capacity for Operator License Safety Training

Decision on the Surge of Confirmed Cases and Elevation of Quarantine Measures in the Eastern Region of Jeonnam

Yeosu Coast Guard Reduces Capacity for Operator License Safety Training

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu Maritime Police Station (Chief Song Min-woong) will reduce the capacity for the practical test and safety education of the power water leisure vehicle operator license, scheduled for Saturday, September 5, from the original 60 people to 40 people.

According to Yeosu Maritime Police on the 27th, this decision was made due to the recent spread of COVID-19 infections in the local community and the elevation of social distancing to level 2.

The practical test and safety education for the power water leisure operator license are conducted at the Jeonnam Eastern Operator License Test Center located in Hwayang-myeon, Yeosu City. New applicants and those wishing to renew their licenses must complete 3 hours of safety education to be issued a license.

A Yeosu Maritime Police official stated, “Although thorough disinfection of the training center and placement of thermometers and hand sanitizers have been carried out to ensure safe testing and education, due to the recent rapid increase in confirmed cases in the eastern Jeonnam area and concerns about community infection, we have inevitably decided to reduce the capacity.” He added, “Due to the reduced capacity, those existing license holders whose renewal period has arrived and who wish to take safety education are asked to postpone their application until the COVID-19 spread subsides.”

The changes in the capacity for the operator license practical test and safety education will be restored once concerns about community infection decrease and the quarantine level is lowered. The capacity will be announced again through the website, media reports, and social networking services.
