[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Maritime Police Station (Chief Go Min-gwan) announced on the 22nd early morning that three casualties occurred on a fishing vessel operating in the northeast sea of Udo, Jeju.


According to Jeju Maritime Police, at around 1:52 AM today, an accident occurred on the 129-ton large purse seine fishing vessel A, registered in Busan, operating 44 kilometers northeast off Udo, Jeju City, where three crew members including Mr. B were sucked into the capstan. An emergency evacuation request was made, and the Jeju Maritime Police dispatched a 500-ton patrol ship patrolling the nearby sea, arriving at the accident site around 3:20 AM.


At the time of boarding, foreign crew member Mr. B was unconscious with his left arm and leg amputated, while Mr. C and Mr. D were conscious but had severe fractures and bleeding in their arms and legs. Due to head bleeding, the Jeju Maritime Police provided first aid and activated the remote medical emergency system, then moved to Jeju Port, arriving around 5:50 AM, where they handed over the patients to the waiting 119 ambulance team, who urgently transported them to a large hospital in Jeju City.


Meanwhile, the Jeju Maritime Police stated that they plan to investigate the circumstances of the accident with the captain of vessel A and fellow crew members who entered Jeju Port.
