KDI School of Public Policy and Management, 'ASEAN-India Macroeconomic Finance and Development Cooperation' Workshop

[Asia Economy Reporter Joo Sang-don] The KDI School of Public Policy and Management announced on the 18th that it will hold the "ASEAN-India Macroeconomic and Financial Development Cooperation Workshop" over two days from the 19th to the 20th at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul.

This workshop was organized to share awareness of the need for inter-country cooperation to address global common challenges such as overcoming the economic crisis caused by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and to discuss future tasks.

In particular, 10 representatives and mission chiefs from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stationed in ASEAN countries and India will attend this workshop to jointly explore ways to expand cooperation among Korea, ASEAN, and India in connection with the New Southern Policy.

The workshop consists of a keynote speech by Park Bok-young, Economic Secretary to the Blue House and Chairperson of the New Southern Policy Special Committee, and a total of five sessions. Each session will be conducted through presentations and discussions by IMF representatives and mission chiefs stationed in each country. On the first day, economic trends and policy issues of India, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines will be presented. On the second day, economic trends and policy issues of Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar will be shared, followed by a panel discussion on economic cooperation measures among the countries.

Held in a hybrid format of video conference and on-site workshop, this event is expected to be attended by Yoo Jong-il, Dean of the KDI School of Public Policy and Management, Lee Je-min, Vice Chairman of the National Economic Advisory Council, Chairperson Park, and various stakeholders from institutions related to the New Southern Policy, academia, and research institutes.
