[Asia Economy, reporter Lim Chunhan] On August 15, marking the 75th anniversary of Liberation Day, the United Future Party stated, "We hope for a sincere change from Japan," and added, "A true foundation of reflection must be established for us to build a tower of mutual prosperity. Korea-Japan relations must now move forward into the future."

Bae Joonyoung, spokesperson for the United Future Party, said in a commentary on the same day, "There are still ongoing conflicts with Japan, such as the issue of comfort women, the Supreme Court's ruling on compensation for forced labor, export restrictions and economic retaliation, and the termination of GSOMIA," expressing these concerns.

He continued, "We bow our heads in gratitude and respect for the spirit of patriotism and sacrifice shown by our independence activists and fallen heroes who fought for the liberation of our country," and emphasized, "During the 35 years of darkness and oppression under Japanese colonial rule, our ancestors risked their lives without hesitation, even as the nation suffered the bitter pain of losing its freedom and rights."

He added, "Thanks to their sacrifice, we were able to establish the foundation of the Republic of Korea and achieve unprecedented development on the global stage," and further stated, "We must never forget that the prosperity and freedom we enjoy today are built upon the noble sacrifices of our forebears."

Spokesperson Bae stated, "'Gyeonrisaui, gyeonwisumyeong'-a phrase written by Ahn Junggeun, meaning 'When you see profit, think of righteousness; when you face danger, give your life,'" and added, "Today, the United Future Party reaffirms this spirit, pledging to overcome the current comprehensive crisis together with the people."
