Apply for the Youth Job Support Program

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Ki-dong] The Ministry of Employment and Labor (Minister Lee Jae-gap) has recently launched the ‘Youth Digital Job Project’ and the ‘Youth Work Experience Support Project’ since the end of last month to address the contraction of new hiring by companies due to the worsening employment market caused by COVID-19 and to expand employment opportunities for youth.

This project supports both companies and youth facing difficulties due to COVID-19 by directly subsidizing part of the wages for six months when companies newly hire young workers. By reducing the labor cost burden on companies, it promotes new hiring of young people and supports actual job creation. It is reported that both companies and youth are showing great interest in the project.

For the Youth Digital Job Project, when hiring youth for IT positions, up to 1.9 million KRW per person per month is supported, and for the Youth Work Experience Support Project, up to 880,000 KRW is supported depending on working hours.

The target companies are small and medium-sized enterprises or mid-sized companies employing five or more insured employees under employment insurance as of the end of the month. Even companies with one to fewer than five employees are eligible if they are venture companies, knowledge service industries, cultural content industries, or youth start-ups.

Kim Se-jin, full-time staff at NaeilN Gwangju, said, “I want to inform many companies and youth about this project that supports both companies struggling with labor shortages and youth facing employment difficulties,” encouraging participation from many organizations.
