[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 14th that the 'Ullim' design by Seonjin Consortium was selected as the best work in the three-dimensional master plan design competition for the Tanhyeon District in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

The Goyang Tanhyeon District, designated in March, is a project to supply about 3,000 housing units by utilizing the site of the long-unexecuted Tanhyeon Neighborhood Park. LH held a three-dimensional master plan design competition last May to develop this area into a city where street spaces and buildings harmonize.

The Seonjin Consortium, selected as the best work, set the vision of "Our Forest Home, Ullim." They proposed a city where forests, parks, and local residents communicate under the themes of nature, memory, communication, and innovation.

In particular, they presented plans to utilize the topography of the Tanhyeon District to establish a wide green corridor connecting Hwangryongsan and Gobongsan Mountains, while creating street spaces for community activation and safe pedestrian paths.

On the 13th, Seonjin Consortium signed a contract with LH for the investigation and design service of the Goyang Tanhyeon public housing district. They plan to apply for the district plan within the year in cooperation with experts in urban architecture, environment, transportation, and related organizations.

Lee Byungman, head of LH's Public Land Development Division, said, "We will actively reflect the various ideas presented in the design competition into the project plan," adding, "We will do our best to create a city loved by residents and to faithfully implement the government's policy to supply 300,000 housing units in the metropolitan area."
