[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] Joe Biden, former Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate in the United States, has called for a nationwide mask mandate.

According to CNN on the 13th (local time), Biden met with reporters in Wilmington, Delaware, urging U.S. governors to mandate mask-wearing to save 40,000 lives.

On the same day, former Vice President Biden, along with Vice Presidential candidate Senator Kamala Harris, received a briefing from health experts on the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). He said, "Every American should wear a mask when outside for at least the next three months."

Biden addressed those resisting mask-wearing, saying, "This is America. Be a patriot." He also added, "Protect your fellow citizens and do the right thing."
