"Career Concerns and Job Questions, Solved Online!"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Recently, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, various recruitment fairs and campus recruiting events have been canceled or indefinitely postponed. As a result, university students preparing for employment are increasingly concerned about the lack of channels to obtain in-depth job information.
SK Innovation, a leader in untact recruitment, is implementing the '2020 Ino業 Up Mentoring,' a non-face-to-face online job mentoring program, as part of its social value creation to support university students facing difficulties with career and employment. The goal of '2020 Ino業 Up Mentoring' is for SK Innovation group members to serve as mentors to university students, providing accurate information about jobs and sharing their own employment experiences to help students secure competitiveness in career choices and the job market.
To offer diverse mentoring, SK Innovation pre-selected about 50 members representing various businesses and job roles, who will conduct online mentoring sessions via video calls with the finally selected mentees.
Any university student nationwide can apply as a mentee through the official website until the 17th, using a course registration method familiar to students. Applicants can review profiles, mentoring goals, and directions of about 50 SK Innovation group job mentors posted on the site, select their desired mentor, and submit an application. The application requires a photo representing the applicant, a self-introduction, and brief expectations for the mentoring.
Mentors will carefully read the applications filled with the applicant’s interest and passion for the job and personally select their mentees. Based on this, the mentee selection results will be announced on the 24th. The full-scale online mentoring will begin on the 31st of this month.
To ensure effective mentoring, SK Innovation limits the number of mentees per mentor to a maximum of five per session to increase focus. Two sessions will be operated over a month, with each session conducting two 90-minute mentoring meetings, totaling four sessions. Considering social and daily distancing due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, mentoring will be conducted via multi-party video calls using the untact tool Webex.
'2020 Ino業 Up Mentoring' is expected to provide practical help to university students contemplating employment and career paths by moving away from one-sided and fragmented information typically provided through promotional materials during the job season, and instead delivering vivid experiences shared by SK Innovation group members currently performing the respective jobs as life seniors.
