Discovering Promising Potential Careers Such as Cyber City Analyst and Highway Controller
[Asia Economy Reporters Kwangho Lee and Sehee Jang] Hong Nam-ki, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, announced, "We have identified 14 new occupations emerging in response to changes in future industries and demographic structures, such as smart construction experts and childcare management specialists, and we plan to review the introduction plans for 37+a promising potential occupations."
At the 13th Emergency Economic Central Countermeasures Headquarters meeting on the 13th, Deputy Prime Minister Hong stated, "The government will play a leading role by improving legal systems, fostering professional manpower, and creating initial market demand."
Deputy Prime Minister Hong said, "It is very regrettable that youth employment numbers and employment rates remain sluggish, highlighting that youth employment is one of the weak links in our employment. We will also review the introduction plans for occupations not yet present domestically but gaining international attention and with high potential for domestic introduction, such as cyber city analysts and highway controllers."
The meeting also discussed measures to revitalize the overseas expansion of K-services. Deputy Prime Minister Hong said, "We aim to elevate service exports, currently ranked 16th globally, to become one of the top 10 export powers by 2025. We will reform support standards, which have been manufacturing-centered, to suit the characteristics of service companies and supply 4.6 trillion KRW in funds to core export-oriented service industries by 2023."
Deputy Prime Minister Hong emphasized, "Considering marketability, competitiveness, and overseas expansion demand, we have selected content, medical and healthcare, edutech, digital services, fintech, and engineering as the six promising K-services. We will induce a breakthrough expansion in exports through tailored support by sector." He added, "To strengthen the competitiveness of service exports in these fields, we will focus on three major supports: building service export infrastructure, enhancing global market competitiveness, and resolving on-site corporate difficulties."
He also stated, "Through qualitative growth, self-sustainability, and competitiveness enhancement of social economy enterprises, we will create 64,000 jobs by 2022." Accordingly, the special guarantee support fund for social economy enterprise growth will be increased up to twice, and the social investment fund will be expanded from 25 billion KRW to 50 billion KRW annually.
