[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Korea International Trade Association (KITA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, opened the 'Comprehensive Support Center for Businesspeople's Immigration and Emigration' on the first floor of COEX in Samseong-dong on the 13th.
At the opening ceremony, KITA Chairman Kim Young-joo, Minister Sung Yun-mo of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, officials from related organizations including the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and representatives from small and medium-sized enterprises who had traveled to China and Vietnam using the Korea-China Fast Track and Vietnam Special Entry Procedures attended.
The center's main tasks include providing information on overseas entry measures by country, updates on countries with provisional suspension of visa waiver agreements, consultations on utilizing the China Fast Track system and the United Arab Emirates rapid entry system, connecting to PCR test hospitals for COVID-19 negative confirmation, and conducting surveys and promotion of charter flight operations.
Consultations are available daily (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. via phone or email. The center will operate until the end of this year for the time being, and the decision on whether to extend operations will be made considering the global COVID-19 situation thereafter.
The center is staffed by 11 personnel, including those from KITA who have operated the Korea-China Fast Track information desk, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry which promoted special entry for Vietnamese businesspeople, personnel dispatched from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and call center staff to provide consultations.
Jo Hak-hee, Director of the International Business Division, stated, "By integrating overseas immigration and emigration support that had been scattered across various government ministries and agencies, we will resolve the overseas business difficulties of our businesspeople in a one-stop manner. We will continue to work closely with the government, related organizations, and private companies to do our utmost to overcome COVID-19."
