Fire at Kimhae Lubricant Additive Storage Warehouse... 'Response Level 2' Issued

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] At around 11:38 AM on the 12th, a fire broke out at the Dongyoung Lubecam Co., Ltd. goods storage warehouse in Ugye-ri, Sangdong-myeon, Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam, and firefighting efforts are currently underway.

According to the Fire Agency, one factory official sustained second-degree burns on the arm and is receiving treatment at a hospital, and two firefighters from the Gimhae East Fire Station who were extinguishing the fire showed signs of exhaustion and were transported to the hospital.

The fire authorities arrived at the scene at 11:44 AM, just 6 minutes after the fire report was received, but as the flames spread, they issued Response Level 1 at 12:48 PM, followed immediately by Response Level 2. The flames began to be controlled around 4:44 PM. At the scene, 59 fire trucks and 350 firefighting personnel were dispatched.

The warehouse stored approximately 1,500 containers of 200 liters each of lubricants such as engine oil additives, and the fire burned four warehouses totaling 1,386㎡, spreading to nearby courier and tire companies as well as residential areas. Nearby residents evacuated following the guidance of the fire authorities.
