Benz Social Contribution Committee Donates 250 Million KRW in Educational Support Funds to Welfare Institutions Nationwide

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] The Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee announced on the 12th that it has donated 250 million KRW in funds to 53 social welfare institutions nationwide to support the education of socially vulnerable children and adolescents, in collaboration with the Children and Future Foundation.


The fund transfer ceremony held at the Mercedes-Benz Daegu Seo-gu showroom was attended by key figures including Sim Migyeong, Director of Daegu Seo-gu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center; Choi Jeongim, Director of Joyful Our Home Facility; Lee Jonggi, CEO of Jungang Motors; Park Jinkyung, member of the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee; and Kim Byeonggi, Head of the Children and Future Foundation.


The Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee, which annually donates funds through employee recommendations and public contests, selected social welfare institutions in Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, as well as 11 other cities and provinces nationwide, that have been struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year. Selected institutions receive up to 5 million KRW to improve educational environments and expand educational opportunities for socially vulnerable and disabled children and adolescents.


Since 2014, through the employee participation program "Together with Mercedes-Benz," the Social Contribution Committee has annually provided funds to social welfare institutions nationwide to support education for socially vulnerable and disabled children and adolescents. To date, it has donated a total of over 3.2 billion KRW to 702 social welfare centers across the country.


A representative of the Mercedes-Benz Social Contribution Committee stated, "We have continuously strived to expand educational opportunities for children from vulnerable groups," adding, "We will continue to do our best to create a culture of community engagement through social contribution programs that employees directly participate in."
