Establishing a Cooperation Framework Among District Office, Residents, Community Centers, and Welfare Agencies to Promote Resident-Led Initiatives in the Local Community
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) held the 'Dong Welfare University Consortium Agreement Ceremony' to promote the activation of the Dong Community Security Council.
The agreement ceremony took place on the 7th at the Seongbuk-gu Office Future Planning Room, with participation from Donam 1-dong, Bomun-dong, Jeongneung 3-dong Community Service Centers and Dong Community Security Councils, as well as support welfare centers including Gireum Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Lifeline Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and Jeongneung Comprehensive Social Welfare Center.
Following videos from each institution reflecting the voices of local residents and the efforts of organizations during the COVID-19 closure period, the four-party agreement ceremony was held, followed by the appointment ceremony of welfare center professional committee members who will consult on resident education.
A Seongbuk-gu official expressed expectations that “building a cooperative foundation among the district office, residents, community service centers, and welfare institutions will greatly help promote resident-led initiatives within the local community.”
Seongbuk-gu Dong Welfare University began in 2018, with two dongs participating until 2019. During this time, residents themselves discovered welfare agendas for their dongs, established welfare plans, and demonstrated achievements in executing them.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, “Even amid various crises such as COVID-19, as a welfare community where neighbors help and care for each other, we were able to protect everyone’s health and safety,” adding, “Through Dong Welfare University, where the three actively operating Dong Community Security Councils, Dong Community Service Centers, and support welfare centers cooperate, we have established a more solid foundation for resident welfare.”
