[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] The cluster infection of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) that occurred at 'Kennedy Sangga' in Namdaemun Market, Seoul, is spreading to nearby shopping centers.
Seoul City announced on the 11th that one more merchant working at 'Jungang Sangga' in Namdaemun Market tested positive for COVID-19.
The confirmed case at Jungang Sangga was found to have had dinner together with the Kennedy Sangga merchant who tested positive on the 9th, on the 30th of last month and the 7th of this month.
The confirmed merchant at Jungang Sangga, which consists of Buildings A, B, and C, worked in Building C. Building C houses 515 stores, and Seoul City has identified that a total of 566 merchants are registered as members of the merchants' association.
The Jungang Sangga Merchants' Association explained that the confirmed merchant met with the Kennedy Sangga merchant on the 7th and did not come out on the 8th. The entire shopping center was closed from the 9th.
The quarantine authorities are advising visitors to Jungang Sangga on the 7th and 8th to get tested if they have any suspicious symptoms.
Earlier, a woman residing in Goyang City who worked on the first floor of Kennedy Sangga was first confirmed positive on the 6th. Seven more people working on the same floor of the same shopping center tested positive for COVID-19 on the 9th.
Including the confirmed cases from Jungang Sangga, the total number of merchants in Namdaemun Market who have tested positive for COVID-19 is nine.
