Recruiting Fall Semester Students for Native Speaker 5-Day Classes
Online Classes Until COVID-19 Stabilizes
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan Gijang-gun will operate the fall semester of the Gijang-gun Hub English Center, which offers practical English conversation classes with native speakers, from September 7 to November 20.
Re-enrollment for current students will take place from August 12 to 21, and level test registration for new students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from August 24 to 26.
The Hub English Center operates at Gijang Library, Gijang Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Jeonggwan-eup Office, and Wolnae Welfare Center.
Practical English conversation classes taught 100% by professional native instructors are held five days a week. To prevent COVID-19, classes are currently conducted online, and will switch to in-person classes once the situation improves.
The tuition fee per person is 35,000 KRW per month (40,000 KRW for adults), making it a popular course among parents and residents as it reduces the burden of private education expenses.
Currently, Gijang-gun has deployed a total of 13 native instructors across the four Hub English Centers and supports about 1.1 billion KRW annually for instructor support and center operations.
A Gijang-gun official stated, “The Hub English Center was established to nurture talents who can confidently express themselves in the global era,” and added, “We hope many students and residents enjoy learning and become capable of global language communication.”
