[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] BGF Retail's convenience store CU announced on the 11th that it has launched the Dokdo Love Ready-to-Eat Meal Series, which depicts the actual appearance of Dokdo, and will donate a portion of the sales proceeds to activities protecting Dokdo.


The Dokdo Love Ready-to-Eat Meal Series consists of three items: rice balls, sandwiches, and soft-boiled smoked eggs. The prices are 2,300 won, 2,700 won, and 2,000 won respectively.


CU used various ingredients in these ready-to-eat meals to portray the shape of Dokdo. A special package was also developed to represent the two islands, Dongdo and Seodo, combining two flavors in one. The Dokdo Love Rice Balls add umami by mixing squid ink into rice cooked with Shindongjin rice. The products include Tuna Mayo-flavored 'Dongdo Rice Ball' and Crab Salad-flavored 'Seodo Rice Ball.'


The Dokdo Love Sandwich uses squid ink bread to create a mild taste and soft texture. It contains one BLT sandwich with green leaf lettuce, tomato, cheese, and ham, and one egg sandwich filled with soft egg salad.


The Dokdo Love Soft-Boiled Smoked Eggs consist of soft-boiled eggs and smoked eggs made from domestic eggs. The packaging features a panoramic view of Dokdo to emphasize the product's connection to Dokdo.


CU plans to donate a portion of the sales proceeds from the Dokdo Love Ready-to-Eat Meal Series to the Dokdo Love Movement Headquarters, a nonprofit organization, on October 25, Dokdo Day. The donated funds will be used to expand support facilities for visiting Dokdo and to support the Dokdo Love platform projects.


Since 2012, CU has been the first in the industry to maintain steady interest and support for Dokdo. The 'CU Dokdo Love Expedition Team,' composed of BGF Group employees and CU franchise owners, visits Dokdo annually to deliver consolation goods for the Dokdo Coast Guard and donations for Dokdo Love.


In addition, CU carries out various programs to promote and support Dokdo, including ▲ the Dokdo Timeline Campaign ▲ production and distribution of Dokdo goods ▲ release of Dokdo support transportation cards ▲ and the Dokdography Campaign.
