[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] On the 11th, GS Group donated 1 billion KRW to the Community Chest of Korea to support recovery efforts in areas affected by prolonged heavy rains.
A GS representative stated, "We hope to comfort the pain of residents in the affected areas and provide a small help to those facing difficulties." He added, "GS will continue to do its best to support recovery efforts for disaster-vulnerable groups and those affected."
Separately from this flood recovery donation, each GS affiliate is actively working to overcome the flood damage. On July 23, GS Caltex delivered relief supplies worth about 100 million KRW, including partitioned dividers for privacy protection and psychological stability in shelters, sleeping bags, masks, and sleep masks, to the National Disaster Relief Association for evacuees during disasters and calamities.
Additionally, GS Retail supported over 1,000 bottles of bottled water to an apartment in Dong-gu, Busan on July 27, and on August 3, provided food supplies for 500 people, including instant rice, ramen, and bottled water, to residents of Danyang-gun, Chungbuk, who were affected by heavy rain.
Furthermore, GS Retail is operating a 24-hour hotline for regional support requests as human and material damages continue due to heavy rains nationwide, actively engaging in flood damage support and recovery projects.
Meanwhile, in February, GS donated 1 billion KRW in relief funds to participate in social efforts to overcome the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and has also provided donations to support victims of the Sewol ferry disaster and wildfire damages in Gangwon Province, among other areas in need.
