[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Orion announced on the 11th that its new product, ‘Market O Gamjatok,’ surpassed cumulative sales of 1.5 million packs within one month of its launch. The sales revenue reached 1.6 billion KRW, far exceeding the 1 billion KRW monthly benchmark considered a hit product in the food industry.
Market O Gamjatok is a thin, elongated stick-shaped potato snack characterized by being made without flour, using potato powder and potato starch instead. It is loved by people of all ages for its rich potato flavor, addictive seasoning, and the crisp ‘ododok tok’ texture that breaks easily when bitten. Its popularity is also due to its cost-effectiveness, with an 80g product sold at convenience stores for 1,500 KRW.
Market O Gamjatok is part of the ‘Market O brand’ lineup, which emphasizes the original taste of ingredients under the slogan ‘The Taste of Ingredients As They Are,’ including products like ‘Real Brownie’ and ‘Real Cheese Chip.’ It was launched in June with two flavors: ‘Herb Salt Flavor,’ which adds umami with herbal notes, and ‘Sweet and Spicy Flavor,’ loved by people of all ages.
