Busan Office of Education Launches Vacation Care Service for Kindergarten and Elementary Students

Reducing Parenting Burden for Parents, Supporting the Resolution of Care Blind Spots

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has started providing care services for young children and elementary school students to ease the childcare burden on working parents during the summer vacation.

The Office of Education is flexibly operating care classrooms considering the demand for care and the conditions of schools and local communities.

A total of 8,897 students at 282 elementary schools and 33,623 children at 385 kindergartens are receiving services.

Elementary schools where it is difficult to operate care classrooms due to construction or other reasons are either operating care classrooms by moving to nearby schools or linking students in need of care with local care institutions.

Elementary care classrooms operate at least one activity-centered special aptitude program free of charge daily, utilizing external instructors, and provide snacks and meals based on the opinions of users.

Kindergartens operate after-school courses and care classrooms centered on play so that children can have a joyful and safe life, and also run one personalized activity-centered specialized program daily.

Regarding COVID-19, safety education is conducted frequently, and safe care services are being provided through measures such as checking body temperature more than twice a day and wearing masks.
