[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Kim Haeyoung, Supreme Council Member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized Yoon Heesook, a member of the United Future Party, who called the government's education policy a "National Crawfish-Making Project," saying, "Yoon's perspective on human beings is subtly revealed."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 10th, Kim said, "Recently, Yoon has been criticizing the government's education policy by quoting former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk's words that 'not everyone needs to become a dragon,'" adding, "This is Cho's personal opinion, not that of the Democratic Party or the government."
Kim pointed out, "Yoon referred to children as 'crawfish who want to play in big waters,'" and asked, "I want to ask Yoon, who is the dragon, who is the crawfish, and who is the crawfish ignored even by other crawfish friends?"
He continued, "A member of the National Assembly who graduated from Seoul National University and prestigious overseas universities and has experience at the Korea Development Institute (KDI) would probably be classified as a dragon. But everyone is the same person. They just have different roles in society," emphasizing, "I cannot agree with Yoon's method of dividing the people of the Republic of Korea into dragons and crawfish, and further dividing crawfish into lobsters and neighborhood stream crawfish."
He added, "I think this subtly reveals Yoon's fundamental perspective on human beings and his view on education," and said, "While detailed abilities are important for politicians, what is more important might be a deep understanding of human beings."
Earlier, Yoon, who gained attention for his "5-minute speech criticizing real estate policy," criticized on his Facebook post on the 6th, "Should we continue to stand by while the government and education authorities are devoted to the 'National Crawfish-Making Project'?"
He stated, "The role of education is to pave the way for crawfish who want to become dragons, to nurture crawfish to become hardworking and growing crawfish capable of finding their own happiness no matter which stream they flow into," and also pointed out, "(The government) is not only uninterested in nurturing the potential of children who want to become dragons, especially lobsters who want to play in big waters, but also does not make efforts to raise crawfish who are ignored even by their neighborhood stream crawfish friends."
