[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG HelloVision announced on the 10th that it has launched a 'Self Activation' service through the Hello Mobile Direct Mall, allowing users to activate a SIM card within 5 minutes. This service enables consumers to activate a SIM card online without visiting a store or waiting for phone consultation.
By selecting self activation on the Hello Mobile Direct Mall subscription page, customers can receive a SIM card by delivery or purchase one at a CU store, then complete activation after a simple identity verification. The activated SIM card can be immediately used by inserting it into a mobile phone. For number portability, activation is available freely on weekdays and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 7:50 PM. New subscriptions can be made regardless of the day from 8:00 AM to 7:50 PM.
LG HelloVision explained, "The self activation service is part of Hello Mobile's strategy to strengthen non-face-to-face (untact) channels," adding, "It aims to improve online subscription accessibility and convenience for the 2030 generation, who account for 50% of SIM subscriptions and have a preference for untact consumption."
Until the end of this month, customers who complete SIM self activation will receive a 'Xiaomi Mi Band 4' as a promotional gift. Additionally, four customers who activate in specific orders (7th, 77th, 777th, 7777th) and ten customers selected by lottery among self activation users will receive the latest 'Apple Watch 5'.
Woo Sang-young, head of LG HelloVision's Mobile Business Group, said, "We will continue to innovate non-face-to-face services through the Direct Mall and lead a reasonable mobile life in the untact era."
