31 Dead, 11 Missing This Month Due to Heavy Rain... 6,000 Disaster Victims Affected

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Due to heavy rain in the metropolitan area and central and southern regions, 31 people have died and 11 are missing this month. The total number of disaster victims has reached 6,000.


According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) as of 7:30 a.m. on the 9th, 13 people have died, 2 are missing, and 1 is injured from the 7th to that time. As a result, the total number of deaths and missing persons due to heavy rain since the 1st has increased to 42. There are 31 deaths and 11 missing persons. The number of injured is reported as 8.


The number of disaster victims this month has reached 6,000. From the 7th to the 9th, 2,205 households totaling 3,749 people were affected. Due to the collapse of the Seomjingang embankment and other factors, 3,540 people have left their homes in Namwon, Jeonbuk; Damyang and Gurye, Jeonnam; and Sancheong, Gyeongnam.


Facility damage includes 4,361 cases in public facilities and 2,120 cases in private facilities, totaling 6,481 cases reported. Additionally, 1,871 houses were submerged or buried by soil, and 15,041 hectares of farmland suffered flooding and other damage. Road and bridge damage totaled 3,275 cases, river damage 174 cases, and landslides 81 cases.
