[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] A herd of cattle that escaped from a barn appeared on the road, drawing attention, after the embankment of Seosicheon in Gurye-gun, Jeonnam, collapsed due to heavy rain exceeding 500mm.

On the morning of the 8th, about ten cattle that escaped from the barn appeared on the road in Ganjeon-myeon, Gurye-gun. On the same morning, the Seosicheon embankment collapsed and flooded, submerging various areas of Gurye-eup starting from Songjeong-ri, Toli-myeon.

Some of the cattle from the barns were found at Saseongam in Muncheok-myeon, Gurye-gun. The herd that appeared at Saseongam, located near the summit of Osan at an altitude of 530m, is presumed to have escaped the flooded barns and climbed up along the hiking trail. A temple official explained, "It was pitiful how the cattle managed to come all the way here on mountain paths that are difficult even for people to climb," adding, "The cattle safely returned under the guidance of their owner who came after hearing the news."

Other cattle from different barns are trapped on the flooded roads in the town. One barn owner said, "Our cattle are trapped on the flooded road right now," and added, "There are not enough boats to carry people, so we are currently waiting to see when the cattle rescue will happen."

Gurye-gun recorded 351.5mm of heavy rain from the previous day until 7 p.m. on this day.
