Operation Restrictions on Bridges, Underpasses, and Jeolla Line

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] The Jeonbuk region experienced heavy rainfall since the previous day, resulting in 148 cases of damage across the province.
According to Jeonbuk Province on the 8th, as of 10 a.m., 8 households and 24 people were displaced, with significant damage including road slope collapses and landslides. Additionally, public safety alerts were issued due to the risk of river flooding and train service suspensions within the province.
Damage to public facilities included 27 road incidents (9 slope collapses, 4 damages, 14 floods), 2 landslides, 1 bridge, 1 water supply and sewage system, 3 rivers, and 88 other cases, totaling 127 incidents.
Private facilities suffered 15 cases in total, including 11 house floods, 1 stone retaining wall collapse, and 6 cases of crop flooding (433.1 hectares).
In Namwon City, approximately 300mm of rain since the previous day caused soil from a mountainside near Yodong Village in Sandong-myeon to collapse, prompting the emergency evacuation of 6 households and 22 villagers.
Also, in Jeonju’s Deokjin-gu, two displaced persons from one household were reported due to house flooding on Haengchi-gil, along with 10 other flood-related damages (3 in Jeonju, 6 in Jinan, 1 in Iksan).
In Jinan, the Gangjeonggyo Bridge on County Road No. 6 (1053-2 Pyeongji-ri) was damaged, and in Jeonju, traffic was restricted in flooded areas including in front of Lotte Department Store, the World Cup Stadium, and the underground passage near Goryeo Hospital.
The Yeongsangang Flood Control Office issued a flood warning at 9:30 a.m. for Jeonju Stream in Jeonju City (Masangyo Bridge) and at around 10:20 a.m. for the Mangyeong River in Wanju County (Samrye Bridge).
Additionally, train operations between Iksan and Yeosu Expo Station were suspended due to flooding on the Jeolla Line between Dongsan and Jeonju, and on the arterial road between Amnok and Gurye stations.
Jeonbuk Province stated that it is monitoring weather and damage conditions and will strengthen surveillance activities in disaster-prone areas.
