Jeju Island "Confirmed Crew Member Did Not Leave Cockpit... No Contacts in the Province" (Update)

[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Jeju Province announced on the 7th that there are no contacts within the province as a Jeju Air crew member (pilot) who tested positive for COVID-19 did not leave the cockpit.


The province explained that they were notified around 6 p.m. that crew member A was confirmed positive for COVID-19 by the Bucheon City Public Health Center in Gyeonggi Province, and epidemiological investigation confirmed that A operated flights arriving and departing Jeju on the 28th and 30th of last month, as well as the 3rd and 5th of this month.


After reviewing CCTV footage from Jeju Air and the airport, it was confirmed that A did not leave the aircraft on those dates and immediately left Jeju, leading to the conclusion that there were no contacts within the province.


According to the province, all flight crew and cabin crew who used the same flights have been identified and placed under self-quarantine.


Currently, movements outside Jeju and contacts related to A are being investigated by the respective public health centers in each jurisdiction.
