40s Man Arrested for Murdering Cousin's Older Brother and His Wife, Then Attempting Self-Harm

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] A man in his 40s who killed his cousin's older brother and his wife and then attempted self-harm has been arrested.

On the 7th, the Uijeongbu District Court issued an arrest warrant for Mr. A, a man in his 40s, on charges of murder.

According to the police, Mr. A is accused of breaking into the home of his cousin's older brother, Mr. B, in his 60s, in Paju City around 4 a.m. on the 2nd, and killing Mr. B and his wife, Mrs. C, with a weapon.

It was reported that Mr. A used a weapon he had prepared in advance to break the window on the first floor of the detached house and commit the crime.

Mr. B's daughter, who was on the second floor of the detached house, went to the scene after hearing the sound of breaking glass and found Mr. and Mrs. B dead. Mr. A was found collapsed after self-inflicting injuries.

The police applied for an arrest warrant after Mr. A's condition improved enough to give a statement while hospitalized.

Investigations revealed that Mr. A had financial disputes with Mr. B. However, he reportedly has not clearly stated the motive for the crime.
