[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Sony Korea will launch the wireless noise-canceling headphones ‘WH-1000XM4’ on the 13th.

The WH-1000XM4, the 4th generation model of the Noise Cancelling 1000X series headphones, effectively blocks from low frequencies to high frequencies caused by everyday noise. It features the ‘Smart Talk’ function that allows conversation without removing the headphones, and improved wearing comfort with a newly designed headband and ear pads.

Sony equipped the WH-1000XM4 with its own high-performance HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN1 and the latest Bluetooth audio system on chip. The new noise cancelling algorithm detects and analyzes music and noise more than 700 times per second. Dual noise sensors installed inside and outside the headphones detect noise from low to mid-high frequency ranges.

The ‘Smart Talk’ function automatically stops the music when the user starts a conversation with the other party without any separate operation by recognizing the user’s voice. It emphasizes the other person’s voice and surrounding sounds, allowing immediate conversation while wearing the headphones. After a certain time has passed since the conversation ends, the music automatically resumes. Precise voice recognition technology optimally controls the five microphones built into the headphones and effectively processes audio signals.

The adaptive sound control function, which detects where the user is and what they are doing to adjust the surrounding sound settings, has also been upgraded. By adjusting frequently visited locations and surrounding sound settings through the Sony Headphones Connect app, it automatically recognizes the place and changes to sound suitable for the situation. It helps users immerse themselves while studying and pay attention to the surroundings while walking or exercising.

Although proximity and accelerometer sensors have been added, the overall product weight is lighter than the previous model. It offers a multipoint function that can pair with two Bluetooth devices simultaneously. For example, users can easily switch from listening to music on a laptop to answering a phone call on a mobile phone. Once fully charged, it can be used for up to 30 hours, and a 10-minute charge allows up to 5 hours of use. It is equipped with Fast Pair function, which allows users to check the last usage location and time when the headphones are lost.

The WH-1000XM4 will be released in two colors: black and silver. Pre-orders will be held from the 7th to the 9th, and the official launch will be on the 13th. Customers who pre-order will receive a dedicated wooden stand as a gift. The price is 459,000 KRW.
