[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Juhee] Popular mukbang YouTuber 'Jjuyang,' who announced her retirement from broadcasting amid a 'backdoor advertising' controversy, appealed, "Please do not leave malicious comments on other YouTubers."
On the afternoon of the 6th, Jjuyang posted on her YouTube channel community, "I don’t mind if you leave malicious comments on my channel, but I would appreciate it if you would stop making harsh criticisms or malicious comments mentioning Jjuyang on other YouTubers' channels," adding, "This is my final earnest request."
On the same day, as Jjuyang declared her suspension of broadcasting, comments criticizing YouTuber 'ChamPD,' who first exposed the 'backdoor advertising' practices of 'mukbang' YouTubers, flooded in.
Jjuyang continued, "My decision to quit broadcasting is not to harm other YouTubers, nor because I was mentioned," and said, "It is taking responsibility for my own mistakes."
She revealed, "At a still immature age, I received excessive attention, and I was always conscious of those around me in every aspect of my daily life, which made me uneasy. I was afraid and distressed by the malicious comments that would grow uncontrollably if any misunderstanding arose. For these reasons, I made this decision."
Jjuyang said, "ChamPD has never mentioned that I engaged in 'backdoor advertising' or tax evasion, yet he is misunderstood as having 'sent a YouTuber with false information.' I do not want other YouTubers to quit just because I have stopped broadcasting."

On the same day, Jjuyang also shared her position on the bulletin board of her 'AfreecaTV' channel.
She said, "I want to express my apologies. If you have watched my YouTube videos, there will be no more broadcasts from today. I enjoyed communicating with viewers on Afreeca, so I have more regrets about quitting Afreeca than quitting YouTube."
She added, "I seriously considered whether to continue live broadcasts (through AfreecaTV), but I don’t think there will be any additional broadcasting activities."
Jjuyang said, "Although I enjoyed broadcasting, it was also true that it was difficult because it did not suit my temperament, and there were many times I wished to go back to the old days. I have nothing to say even if people call me irresponsible."
She continued, "Some say I am leaving after earning everything, so let me clarify that I couldn’t do so for certain reasons. For the next few months, I plan to work part-time and rest a bit before finding another job and working hard. Please do not misunderstand that I am leaving because I have earned everything."
Finally, Jjuyang said, "I won’t turn on broadcasts, but I want to occasionally leave updates on the bulletin board. If I work part-time, I will post where I am working, and if I have the chance to meet in real life, it would be nice and pleasant. When we meet, I hope you treat me normally as Park Jungwon, not as Jjuyang."
Below is the full text of YouTuber Jjuyang’s heartfelt message.
My final earnest request.
I don’t mind if you leave malicious comments on my channel, but I would appreciate it if you would stop making harsh criticisms or malicious comments such as "Why don’t you quit? You should quit too" or "Because of you, Jjuyang retired" mentioning Jjuyang on other YouTubers' channels. My decision to quit broadcasting is not to harm other YouTubers, nor because I was mentioned.
It is taking responsibility for my own mistakes. Also, at a still immature age, I received excessive attention, and because of that, I was always conscious of those around me in every aspect of my daily life, which made me uneasy. I was afraid and distressed by the malicious comments that would grow uncontrollably if any misunderstanding arose. For these reasons, I made this decision. In fact, ChamPD has never mentioned that I engaged in backdoor advertising or tax evasion, yet he is misunderstood as having sent a YouTuber with false information. I absolutely do not want other YouTubers to quit just because I have stopped broadcasting.
Once again, I sincerely ask. Please do not criticize other YouTubers by mentioning me with comments like "You should quit too" or "Take responsibility."
