[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] A(47), who broke the glass window of the KBS radio studio during a live broadcast with a pickaxe and caused a disturbance, was arrested on the 6th on charges of special property damage and obstruction of business.
Seong Bo-gi, the warrant judge at the Seoul Southern District Court, issued A's arrest warrant on the same day, stating, "There is a concern that evidence may be destroyed and a risk of flight," following the prosecution's request.
A is accused of breaking the glass window on the outer wall of the open radio hall studio in front of the KBS headquarters in Yeouido with a pickaxe at around 3:42 p.m. the previous day, disrupting the live broadcast of KBS Cool FM (89.1 MHz) 'Hwang Jeong-min's Music Show.'
During the police investigation, A stated, "My mobile phone has been wiretapped for 25 years, but no one listens to me, so I did it out of frustration." At the time of arrest at the scene, A was carrying a gas gun and two small pickaxes in addition to the pickaxe used in the crime.
At that time, 'Hwang Jeong-min's Music Show' was broadcast live as a 'visible radio,' and the shouts of "Hwang Jeong-min, come out" and the sound of breaking glass were transmitted over the radio waves. Aside from A, who injured his hand during the incident, no one else was hurt, but announcer Hwang Jeong-min, who was hosting the broadcast, was hospitalized due to post-traumatic stress disorder and other reasons.
