[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The Songpa District Council (Chairman Hwangsoo Lee) leadership team inspected the on-site situation and safety management status on the 6th regarding the Tancheon water system within the district, where access has been restricted due to continuous heavy rain hitting the metropolitan area and central regions for a week, the roads near Olympic Park at risk of flooding and damage, and the operation status of rainwater pumping stations.

Attending the on-site inspection were Chairman Hwangsoo Lee, Vice Chairman Kyungrae Park, Operations Committee Chair Heesook Kim, and Finance and Welfare Committee Chair Youngjae Lee, who received detailed reports on flood control status and recovery plans from the relevant district office departments.

First, the leadership team visited the flooded walking trail near the Dalnaengi Bridge beside Gwangpyeonggyo Bridge on Tancheon, discussing in depth the countermeasures for potential future water level rises and restoration methods for the flooded areas.

They then moved to the area near Olympic Park to inspect the flooded and damaged roads, ordering prompt restoration, and finally checked the operational status directly at the rainwater pumping station.

Chairman Hwangsoo Lee stated, “Although a lot of rain has fallen, no major damage has occurred so far thanks to prior inspections and preparations. Since localized heavy rain is forecasted going forward, we ask for continued efforts to prioritize the safety of residents and prevent any damage.”

Meanwhile, as of 9 a.m. on the 6th, Songpa District is maintaining an emergency duty system with 341 public officials prepared for wind and flood disasters, operating a total of 59 pumps at six pumping stations within the area, controlling rivers (Seongnaecheon, Gamicheon, Jangjicheon, Tancheon), and closing six sluice gates to prepare for any emergencies.
