Gwangju City to Conduct Community Health Survey Starting from the 16th

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 6th that it will conduct a community health survey targeting 4,500 adults aged 19 and over in the Gwangju area from the 16th to October 31st.

The community health survey is a statutory survey conducted annually by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency and 17 metropolitan cities and provinces to understand the health level of local residents, establish health policies tailored to regional characteristics, and serve as basic data for promoting customized public health projects.

The survey method involves investigators from the health centers of the five districts in Gwangju visiting sample households selected by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, conducting one-on-one interviews with survey subjects using electronic questionnaires installed on laptops.

The survey items include basic household surveys, health behaviors such as smoking, drinking, and exercise, prevalence of chronic and acute diseases, experience of accidents and poisoning, use of medical services, vaccinations, totaling 142 questions. This year, temporary COVID-19 related questions are also included.

In particular, to prevent COVID-19 this year, investigators undergo COVID-19 testing before conducting the survey and strictly adhere to COVID-19 prevention guidelines such as wearing masks, hand sanitizing, and temperature checks when visiting households.

Im Jin-seok, Director of the City Health Policy Division, said, “Investigators will take COVID-19 tests in advance and strictly follow COVID-19 prevention guidelines to safely conduct the survey. As this survey is essential for reflecting in the health policies of the government and Gwangju City, we ask for the active participation of the sampled households.”
