MBC denies making a call before the report on the alleged collusion between prosecutors and media, stating "We never made the call"... "They must apologize for false reporting and issue a correction"
[Asia Economy reporters Ryu Jeong-min and Son Seon-hee] Yoon Do-han, Blue House Chief of Public Communication, denied on the 6th the allegation that he called lawyer Kwon Kyung-ae before MBC's report on the collusion between prosecutors and media. In particular, Chief Yoon stated that he does not even know lawyer Kwon and denied the related reports.
Chief Yoon said, "The Chosun Ilbo reported in this morning's edition that either Han Sang-hyuk, Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, or I, Yoon Do-han, Chief of Public Communication, might have called lawyer Kwon Kyung-ae before MBC's report on the collusion allegations. Han Sang-hyuk clarified that this is not true. I also have never called lawyer Kwon Kyung-ae," he stated.
Chief Yoon claimed, "The Chosun Ilbo also reported that I did not respond to their contact attempts today. Logically, one responds when there is a question. The Chosun Ilbo did not ask me any questions," adding, "There were only two missed calls from a former Blue House correspondent of the Chosun Ilbo last night."
Chief Yoon said, "They maliciously reported that I did not answer a late-night call. I wonder if they made the calls just to write an article claiming I deliberately ignored them. I hope they apologize for the false report and issue a correction."
A senior Blue House official said, "According to Chairman Han Sang-hyuk's statement, there was no phone call before the MBC report," adding, "If Chairman Han's statement is correct, then the claims made by lawyer Kwon are not true."
