[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk announced on the 6th that it will uniformly increase the honorarium for national merit recipients and veterans from the previous 50,000 won and 70,000 won to 100,000 won.

Earlier, on the 3rd, Ulleung-gun raised the honorarium through amendments to the 'Ordinance on the Treatment and Support of National Merit Recipients' and the 'Veterans Support Ordinance,' while also removing the age clause (previously 65 years and older) so that all merit recipients can receive benefits.

The increased amount through this ordinance amendment is the highest level within Gyeongbuk Province, and about 40 additional merit recipients will receive the honorarium benefits.

Kim Byung-su, Ulleung-gun Governor, stated, "Thanks to the sacrifice and dedication of national merit recipients, we have overcome numerous hardships and built today's Republic of Korea," and pledged, "We will continue to implement more diverse veterans' policies so that merit recipients and their families can live with honor and pride."
