[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] On the morning of the 6th, three vessels engaged in the removal of artificial aquatic plant islands swept away by heavy rain in Uiamho Lake, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do, capsized, resulting in eight people falling into the water. One person died, five are missing, and two were rescued.


The Fire Agency announced that at around 11:37 a.m. that day, a report was received that three vessels had capsized in Uiamho Lake, Chuncheon, Gangwon-do, and rescue operations are underway.


The accident occurred after a report that artificial aquatic plant islands were drifting in Uiamho Lake. Three vessels?a police boat, an administrative boat, and a private boat?were dispatched for removal work when the boat capsized. One person who escaped on their own and one rescued person are in a state of exhaustion, one person was found dead, and five are missing.


After the accident report, 52 vehicles and 698 personnel from the fire department, police, and military were dispatched to carry out rescue operations.
