Silla University Aviation Students Achieve 100% Pass Rate in Major Certification Exams Students of Silla University College of Aviation.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Students belonging to the College of Aviation at Silla University all passed their major-related certification exams.

Silla University announced on the 6th that 24 second-year students of the Department of Aviation Operations recently achieved a 100% pass rate on the Aircraft Radio Operator License exam.

This certification is essential for aircraft pilots. These university students passed both the written and practical exams conducted recently at the Busan branch of the Korea Communications Agency and received certificates issued by the Ministry of Science and ICT.

Thirty-six second-year students of the Department of Aviation Service at the College of Aviation also achieved a 100% pass rate on the Korean Air TOPAS Level 2 reservation certification exam held recently. This exam is essential for acquiring the CRS (Computer Reservation System) certification, which is crucial for airline cabin crew, airport ground staff, and travel agencies handling international flight ticketing, making it highly valuable.

The certifications obtained by the students this time are based on the next-generation reservation and ticketing system that combines Korean Air's TOPAS and the global airline reservation system Amadeus (AMADEUS) technologies, enabling a higher level of service to customers.

Silla University is the only university in the southeastern region to establish a Department of Aviation with three core aviation majors. After admitting its first freshmen in 2019, it expanded this year by adding the Department of Air Traffic Logistics, now comprising four major departments: Aviation Operations, Aircraft Maintenance, Aviation Service, and Air Traffic Logistics, forming a specialized aviation college.

During this summer vacation, the College of Aviation provided practical training scholarships of 1 million KRW per person to 12 of the 24 second-year students in the Department of Aviation Operations. These students were sent to the Shinhan Air Flight Training Center in Yeongam, Jeollanam-do for their first round of flight practice, while the remaining 12 students are scheduled for their second round of flight practice in November.

The Department of Aircraft Maintenance was designated as a specialized educational institution for aircraft maintenance courses by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in December 2019. On July 24, the department received two J-85 turbojet engines from the Air Force for educational use.

The College of Aviation also received B737 aircraft turbofan engines from Korean Air, allowing students to hone their aircraft maintenance skills.

The newly constructed hangar on campus houses six aircraft, including the Learjet, a high-speed business jet, the fixed-wing light aircraft Cessna 172, and the rotary-wing aircraft 500MD.
