[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] Daelim Industrial announced on the 6th that it will share the results of digital innovation with its partner companies. This is to support the enhancement of digital competitiveness and productivity of partner companies. Daelim is providing partner companies with various information from construction sites analyzed through advanced equipment and IT technology, converted into digital data.
Surveying is the most basic task at construction sites. It is conducted frequently to check the scope of work and the progress of construction. However, since surveying was done manually by people one by one, work efficiency was low. To improve this, Daelim is conducting surveys using drones. The data surveyed by drones is implemented as 3D images on Daelim Technology Development Center’s drone platform and provided to partner companies along with various information. Partner companies can quickly and conveniently check detailed information related to construction, such as the amount, height, and area of soil accumulated in the construction section, through a PC screen. In the case of earthwork partner companies supported by the drone surveying system, productivity has improved by about 70% compared to before.
Daelim has also started worker training to share know-how on related technologies along with support for smart construction equipment such as Machine Control. Since it is difficult for partner companies to purchase expensive equipment costing up to 45 million KRW per unit, Daelim lends the equipment free of charge on their behalf. Machine Control technology equips construction machinery such as excavators and bulldozers with precision GPS, tilt sensors, and digital controllers, helping ongoing work like a car’s navigation system. Equipment operators can grasp the work scope, progress status, and surrounding conditions in real time from the driver's seat. In the case of excavators, various information such as the location and depth of excavation work can be precisely checked within a 20mm tolerance without separate surveying work. A Daelim Industrial official said, "It is expected to significantly increase the work efficiency of partner companies while drastically reducing rework caused by construction errors."
Recently, the construction industry is making every effort to develop new construction technologies in line with the 4th Industrial Revolution. They aim to realize smart construction by actively utilizing big data, while simultaneously improving work efficiency, cost innovation, and productivity by combining IT technology with advanced construction methods. In particular, Daelim is actively pursuing digital innovation by concentrating company-wide capabilities.
Lee Hangbeom, head of Bowoo Construction in charge of earthworks at the e-Pyeonhansesang Bupyeong Granhills site, said, “Daelim Industrial has greatly increased productivity by supporting drone education and digital equipment from the early stages of construction,” adding, “If the digital know-how and technology possessed by large companies are actively shared with partner companies, it will be a great help.”
