Gimcheon City: "Zero Possibility of Larvae Occurrence as Raw Water for Tap Water Comes from Underground Sand Layer"

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gimcheon City in Gyeongbuk recently announced on the 6th that it is strengthening water quality inspections and surveillance activities in response to the discovery of larvae in tap water in some local governments, including Incheon.

Gimcheon City explained that they are maintaining and managing the best drinking water by conducting daily water quality inspections for five items including residual chlorine, weekly water quality inspections for seven items including general bacteria, monthly water quality inspections before household water supply, and quarterly water quality inspections with overlapping tests at different times. Additionally, they are replacing existing insect screens with fine insect screens and installing pest traps.

Kim Jong-cheol, head of the Clear Water Project Office of Gimcheon City, emphasized, "Gimcheon tap water does not use surface water flowing through Gamcheon as the raw water but uses groundwater flowing through sand layers below 4 meters underground, so there is no possibility of larvae occurrence."
