[Golf Topic] Kepka and Thomas "PGA Championship Winning Odds No.1"... What About Woods? Foreign betting companies have chosen Brooks Koepka (left) and Justin Thomas as the favorites to win this year's PGA Championship.

[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…Brooks Koepka and Justin Thomas (both from the United States) are considered strong contenders for victory in the season's first major PGA Championship.

Foreign betting company William Hill set the winning odds for Koepka and Thomas at 10/1 each on the 6th (Korean time). Betting 1 dollar will yield 11 dollars if successful. Koepka is challenging a three-peat at the tournament for the first time in 83 years since Walter Hagen's (1924?1927) four consecutive wins. Thomas aims for his fourth win of the season along with defending his 'Number 1' status. Following the two players, 'Number 2' Jon Rahm (Spain) and 'Number 3' Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) have odds of 14/1.

Another betting company, Ladbrokes, has a similar outlook. Koepka and Thomas are at 10/1, Rahm and McIlroy at 12/1. Tiger Woods (USA), the 'resurrected golf emperor' hunting for his 16th major victory, has odds of 33/1 at Ladbrokes and 35/1 at William Hill. Among Korean players, Im Sung-jae (22) is rated 80/1 at Ladbrokes and 66/1 at William Hill. This year's PGA Championship opens tonight at Harding Park TPC in San Francisco, California, USA.
