[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Among the Galaxy 5 series unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event, the wireless earphones 'Galaxy Buds Live' and the smartwatch 'Galaxy Watch3' will be released first.

Samsung Electronics held 'Galaxy Unpacked 2020' online on the 5th and announced that starting from the 6th, 'Galaxy Buds Live' and 'Galaxy Watch3' will be available for purchase on Samsung Electronics' website as well as online open markets such as Coupang and 11st.

Samsung Electronics' Wireless Business Division President (CEO) No Tae-moon said, "Wearables are one of the fastest-growing fields and are becoming essential items in the next normal, with the market continuously expanding," adding, "'Galaxy Buds Live' and 'Galaxy Watch3' combine sophisticated design and advanced technology to provide new and differentiated experiences that consumers desire."

The earbuds of the third series of Galaxy Buds, 'Galaxy Buds Live,' resemble kidney beans, and the case is reminiscent of a jewelry box. Although they are open-type, they are equipped with Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) to capture both sound quality and comfort. The design fits snugly in the ear without protruding externally. Two sizes of wing tips are provided to ensure stable wear even during exercise.

Galaxy Buds Live features noise cancelling like the AirPods Pro but is priced much more affordably at 198,000 KRW. It smartly blocks up to 97% of background noise while allowing essential sounds such as conversations and announcements to be heard. The earbuds are equipped with three microphones and an accelerometer sensor to filter external noise and improve voice signals according to the user's voice, enhancing call quality. Compared to its predecessor, it has a larger 12mm speaker and a bass duct.

Music playback time is 6 hours with ANC and voice commands on, and up to 21 hours with charging from the case. Calls can be made for 4.5 hours with ANC on earbuds and up to 17 hours total. It is available in three colors: Mystic Bronze, Black, and White. When recording videos with the Galaxy Note20, it can be used like a wireless microphone, and Bixby can be summoned with voice commands to check weather, play music, or send messages. When two Buds Live are connected to a Galaxy Tab S7 or Note20, users can enjoy their favorite music together.

Galaxy Watch3, from wrist doctor to exercise coach

Galaxy Watch3 enhances health monitoring and fitness features to assist with health management on the wrist. With the Samsung Health Monitor app, blood pressure and electrocardiogram measurements are possible, and a blood oxygen saturation measurement function has been added. It can check how effectively you breathe over a period by measuring oxygen in the blood. Additionally, it includes a fall detection feature that sends an SOS alert to four designated contacts if the user falls and cannot get up, and connects a call to one of them.

Galaxy Watch3 also acts as an exercise coach. It records and manages workout types through the Samsung Health app. The running analysis program checks posture balance and maximum oxygen uptake. After exercise, it provides feedback to help improve records or prevent injuries. The sleep management feature offers scores and insights.

Galaxy Watch3 is equipped with a physical rotating bezel for easier operation. Users can customize the watch face to display desired information such as weather, date, and step count. Over 80,000 watch faces are available, offering a wide range of choices. It is released in 41mm and 45mm sizes, with LTE and Bluetooth models. For the stainless steel model, the 41mm comes in Bronze and Silver, and the 45mm in Black and Silver. Prices range from 429,000 KRW (Bluetooth) to 495,000 KRW (LTE) for the 41mm, and from 473,000 KRW to 528,000 KRW for the 45mm. The first-ever titanium version is scheduled for release within the year.
