Daegu City Deploys 16,685 People to COVID-19 Hope Jobs Program

Working at 914 Public Worksites in 7 Sectors for 4 Months Starting from the 6th

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Daegu City announced on the 5th that starting from the 6th, 16,685 participants of the 'Daegu-type Hope Jobs to Overcome COVID-19' will be deployed to 914 workplaces in 7 sectors including daily quarantine support.

These participants were selected after verification of income, assets, unemployment period, vulnerable employment groups, and business suspension status from among 23,404 applicants who applied at 144 locations such as eup, myeon, and dong by address from the 1st to the 10th of last month.

By age group, those in their 50s accounted for the highest at 29%, followed by those aged 60 and above at 24%, those in their 40s at 22%, and those in their 20s and 30s each at 12%. Middle-aged and older adults aged 40 and above made up 75%.

The sectors to be deployed include ▲ daily quarantine support 8,501 people ▲ public rest area improvement 4,049 people ▲ public work support 1,373 people ▲ industrial cluster area environmental maintenance 213 people ▲ disaster prevention 143 people ▲ youth support 1,585 people ▲ regional specialization projects 821 people. They will work for the next four months at various public workplaces such as daycare centers, schools, subway stations, and traditional markets.

Daegu City plans to analyze the characteristics of the 16,685 selected participants this time to use as valuable data for establishing unemployment measures, and will actively collect participants' opinions to consider expanding employment linkage support measures.

Kim Tae-woon, Director of the Job Investment Bureau of Daegu City, said, "The great challenge of 16,685 citizens has begun to overcome COVID-19 and for Daegu to vigorously move toward hope again," adding, "We hope this hope job program will provide some economic comfort to the citizens."
