[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] As the ruling coalition opposed Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's remark that "dictatorship disguised as democracy," the United Future Party criticized, saying, "If you get hurt and flare up even at common-sense remarks, that itself is a problem."
Yoon Hee-seok, deputy spokesperson of the United Future Party, said in a statement on the 5th, "The ruling coalition's reaction to the Prosecutor General's single remark is loud and intense."
Deputy spokesperson Yoon pointed out, "In fact, there is nothing special about Prosecutor General Yoon's remarks. He talked about 'true democracy that rejects dictatorship and totalitarianism disguised as democracy' and also said that 'liberal democracy is realized through the rule of law.' These are obvious statements seen in textbooks and words at the level of common sense."
He said, "However, the ruling coalition's reaction is that it is 'blocking the voices of the people demanding prosecution reform' and 'a de facto declaration of anti-government struggle beyond opposition to prosecution reform.' Is this remark truly blocking the people's voices and a declaration of anti-government struggle?"
Deputy spokesperson Yoon criticized, "The 'democracy' of the ruling coalition is not the 'democracy' we know, and their 'law' is not the 'law' within common sense. Therefore, it is quite natural to get excited by understanding the 'rule of law' as 'lawless domination by law.'"
He added, "They should reflect. If you get hurt and flare up even at common-sense remarks, that itself is a problem. Abandon arrogance and self-righteousness and focus solely on your role as a responsible ruling party."
