[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Gyeongnam Hamyang County Office announced on the 5th that it will implement a vehicle day-of-the-week operation system for county office employees to alleviate parking inconveniences for visitors coming to the county office.
Currently, there are 225 parking spaces within the county office building, but the average daily number of vehicles used is about 310. Although parking spaces are designated exclusively for visitors, a parking battle is inevitable.
Accordingly, the vehicle day-of-the-week operation means that vehicles with license plate numbers ending in certain digits are not allowed to operate on the corresponding days: vehicles ending in 1 or 6 on Monday, 2 or 7 on Tuesday, 3 or 8 on Wednesday, 4 or 9 on Thursday, and 5 or 0 on Friday will be restricted from entry.
In particular, some vehicles such as compact cars, eco-friendly vehicles, vehicles for the disabled, and vehicles for pregnant women are exempted.
Meanwhile, employees who violate the vehicle day-of-the-week system more than twice may face disadvantages such as work evaluation point deductions and penalty duties, requiring employees to take the lead in compliance.
Jung Soon-tae, Director of the Finance Department, urged, “Visitors entering the county office may experience some inconvenience, but we ask for active participation in the vehicle day-of-the-week operation to create a parking culture based on mutual consideration.”
